Our Philosophy Statement
It
is our goal to provide a child-centered curriculum encompass the whole child offering a balance of activities from quiet concentration
to energetic activities that are developmentally appropriate.. As an inclusive environment we embrace individual differences
by providing activities and lessons to suit all types of learners. Our childcare professionals utilize Individualized Education
Plans whenever necessary to facilitate children with specials needs. We appreciate and encourage family involvement in all
aspects of our program. The Giant Steps Early Childhood program shall include literacy and mathematical skills, social and
science oriented activities and feature specialized lessons in music. The Giant Steps School Age School program shall provide
a wide variety of extra curricular activities, including music, art and science with a focus on social experiences and fair
play. Our specially designed child-centered classrooms, and low student teacher ratio foster the ideal setting for individualized
attention that develops confident, happy learners.
Children will have numerous opportunities for self-discovery through
a wide variety of toys, books and games and activities. With gentle teacher guidance, children will guide their learning by
having their interests and curiosity enhanced by classroom teachers. The experiences will be designed to develop developmental
skills and tap into their unlimited potential while encouraging children's natural curiosity. All activities will be developmentally
appropriate, exciting and challenging learning opportunities while valuing the creative process of each child. Children at
Giant Steps will learn to solve problems, resolve conflicts and respect differences. Our focus on the whole child, encompassing
individual differences, will set the stage for healthy social, emotional, physical and academic development.

Our Mission Statement
Giant Steps Children's Centre is a privately owned, family oriented, licensed
Childcare Centre committed
to providing high quality affordable child care to families for children ages months through 12 years in Tantallon and its
surrounding areas. We employ educated and experienced Early Childhood professionals to optimize the implementation of our
curriculum, policies and procedures. Our early childhood program incorporates technology, music and art and fosters multiculturalism
and inclusion by supporting families and children who have special needs. All of our programs offer children the opportunity
to develop their experiences by permitting their interests to become the basis for projects, experiments, and art experiences
and other learning objectives.. The teachers will act as facilitators, researchers and partners in developing a well-rounded
exciting play and learning environment
